Project Day - New Plymouth Clubs Clean up the Huatoki River

On February 23rd the Rotary Clubs in New Plymouth combined for a community project. In previous years the Clubs have worked together cleaning up the Huatoki River. It was time to do this again. The Huatoki River has an important place in the history of the New Plymouth region and is enjoyed by all as a placid stream to take leisurely walks. This time it was combined with the opportunity to promote Rotary and raise funds for the Shelter Box Appeal.  We set up on The Landing in down town New Plymouth with the Shelter Box tent erected and a sausage sizzle. Many interesting items were found in the river: a bicycle, batteries, tyres and even a unbroken glass jug – just to name a few. There was a lot of interest in the Shelter Box and the sausage sizzle was enjoyed by all. We appreciate the generosity of Tasman Toyota for supplying the BBQ.  In total $250.00 approx. was raised.
